FFH CENTRE

WHY FFH Centre to be in Iringa? and not ..........!!

Many questions might arise from different people, different football clubs or associations and other football fans all over the country of Tanzania against the Football For Hope (FFH) centre which is due to be built soon in Iringa Municipality.

IDYDC having worked partnership with FFH in Njombe district for more than 6 years now, to campaign against the spread of HIV infection and other health issues among youth via football game, it is obvious that this has been a determinant factor for Iringa to acquire this centre.
In 2008 IDYDC began working with health issues in Njombe district being supported by FFH association. Football was and still the major tool to reach many youth with HIV/AIDS prevention awareness massages.
IDYDC is the FFH's selected and trusted partner in Tanzania also with no doubt will be the Centre Host for the coming seasons.
WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE OF THE FOOTBALL FOR HOPE CENTRE (FFH)?
The main objective is to promote social development in our community and strengthen Local organization(Centre Host) with vital infrastructure. The Centre Host shall have a base from which its programmes will be able to increase awareness about HIV/AIDS, increase literacy, improve gender equality, integrate youth with intellectual disabilities, and promote overall social development in other targeted ways.

Together with the Centre Host, FIFA and streetfootballworld(sfw) will develop unifying programme elements for our FFH Centre to be adapted and implemented according to the local needs.

Our Centre shall become hub for cooperation and exchange of the best practice among local organizations as well as on the national level.

COMMUNITY OWNERSHIP
Community involvement and ownership shall be crucial for the success and sustainability of our Centre. The local community shall be involved in the entire process from the very first step, including the architectural design for the Centre. Construction and, whenever possible, the involvement of the local workforce and skill-building programmes.
TANZANIA
Therefore Iringa Development of Youth, Disabled and Children Care(IDYDC)  has been selected by FIFA and Football for Hope(FFH) as the Centre Host in Tanzania. This is in recognition of our outstanding of the on-going work in the fight against HIV in the country through the use of football.

FFH CENTRE
IDYDC has acknowledged to host the FFH Centre to be developed in Iringa Municipality this year 2012. This Sports Centre results from the official campaign of the 2010 FIFA World Cup" In South Africa. After the final whistle of this global  event FIFA proposed to build 20 centres in In Africa by which Tanzania was one among the awarded African countries.

However the best concept of the FIFA via Football for Hope centres (FFH) is to promote football as a tool for social development, to collaborate closely with partners worldwide, use football as peace building and conflict resolution, also use football as education and awareness of health related issues to the targeted groups.

Hence IDYDC with its well established organizational policy will use this centre to improve the social programmes among the community and also bring together youth through networking.
